The Story Behind the Park:
Anthony Bayne, Sr. is a self-taught sculptor who specializes in wood carving, often working with found and reclaimed materials to create intricate, otherworldly forms. Galaxyscape Zone—crafted from wood, metal, and mixed media—was first created outside his garage on 51st and Chestnut, where it stood for years and was beloved by neighbors and passersby. Brandywine saw an opportunity to support a local artist and bring his work to a larger audience. By purchasing the piece for permanent public display, Brandywine not only preserved a unique piece of neighborhood art but also gave the community an inspiring focal point within Highline Park’s viewing garden.
As Anthony describes it: “The universe is the family of the beginning. This work represents how space, stars, and the earth came about, flying together and continuing on and on.”
